There's one sad truth in life I've found
While journeying east and west -
The only folks we really wound
Are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know,
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best.~Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That's why it's a comfort to go hand in hand. ~Emily Kimbrough
Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859
Sticks and stones are hard on bones
Aimed with angry art,
Words can sting like anything
But silence breaks the heart.~Phyllis McGinley, "Ballade of Lost Objects," 1954
I like her because she smiles at me and means it. ~Anonymous
In the end, who among us does not choose to be a little less right to be a little less lonely. ~Robert Brault
Trouble is part of your life, and if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you enough chance to love you enough. ~Dinah Shore
Sometimes two people need to step apart
and make a space between
that each might see the other anew,
in a glance across a room
or silhouetted against the moon.~Robert Brault
You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with. ~Wayne W. Dyer
Experience the love of God before you attempt romantic love ~ Crystal Monae'

"We flatter those we scarcely know,
ReplyDeleteWe please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best." Sadly true. I also resonate with your words. For me, God is first. Great compilation of quotes, Crystal!
Sad but true! Keep God first and everything else will work out in the wash. Thanks for stopping in.
ReplyDeleteI wrote this not in response to your post but I think it's fitting. Let me know what you think! Good to see you are still doing your thing!!!! http://todaystatus.wordpress.com/2011/07/09/unbreakable/
ReplyDeleteMore specifically....
ReplyDeleteThe sobering reality of relationships is… that they aren’t easy. They never stay in the lines. They get messy. Things break. Things are lost others are discovered. And maybe it’s the very things that break us, that also possess in them the ability to make us. I don’t know that we will ever be able to recognize the things that “break” us from the things that make us the moment we see it. Could it be that if we assume the mindset and attitude that what ever comes, although it may have the intent to break me I will only find a way to have it make me, and ultimately make me a better me.
